Grateful Dead ‘All The Years Live’ Video Series: “Truckin’” At Rich Stadium 1993 [Watch]Grateful Dead ‘All The Years Live’ Video Series: “Truckin’” At Rich Stadium 1993 [Watch]

first_imgThe latest installment in the Grateful Dead‘s All The Years Live archive video series is available now on the band’s YouTube page. This entry highlights the Dead’s performance of “Truckin’” at Rich Stadium in Orchard Park, NY on June 13th, 1993.This video joins fellow 6/13/93 releases “Cassidy” and “Way To Go Home“. This Sunday concert, the band’s only New York show that summer, came in the middle of the Dead’s 15 show East Coast tour. While 1993 may not be most peoples’ favorite year of the Grateful Dead, at least after attendance biases are set aside, this rendition of the American Beauty classic still has its charms. From Bob Weir‘s early flubbed lyrics to Jerry Garcia trying to hold back a smile when Weir belts “Truckin’ up to Buffalo”, this performance takes on a loose, almost carefree nature as even the band itself must marvel at “what a long strange trip it’s been.”Grateful Dead archivist and legacy manager David Lemieux notes in the video’s description,Although it’s not quite the thrill of hearing the fellows in Spinal Tap give a shout out to Cleveland, seeing the Grateful Dead play Truckin’ up in Buffalo was always very fun, and very rare, happening only four times (twice in 1973, and in 1990 and 1993). This is from the last Grateful Dead show I saw.Watch the Grateful Dead perform “Truckin’” at Rich Stadium on June 13th, 1993.Grateful Dead – “Truckin’” – Orchard Park, NY – 6/13/93[Video: Grateful Dead]Previous installments of the Dead’s ongoing All The Years Live series have included:“Fire On The Mountain” from 10/31/80 at Radio City Music Hall“Mississippi Half-Step” from 7/16/90 at Rich Stadium“The Wheel” > “All Along The Watchtower” from 6/11/93 at Buckeye Lake“Wharf Rat” from 7/6/90 at Cardinal Stadium“Uncle John’s Band” from 10/19/74 at Winterland Ballroom“Ship of Fools” from 7/16/90 at Rich Stadium“West L.A. Dominica to benefit from ongoing DVRP ProjectDominica to benefit from ongoing DVRP Project

first_imgLocalNews Dominica to benefit from ongoing DVRP Project by: Dominica Vibes News – February 23, 2018 Tweet Collin Guiste, Head of the DVRP’s Project Management UnitIn September 2014, actual work on advancing Dominica’s Low Carbon Development Project started off with a pilot project known as the Dominica Vulnerability Reduction Project (DVRP).According to Collin Guiste, Head of the DVRP’s Project Management Unit, this five years project has four components.Component 1Adaptation and Prevention; Includes civil works to critical infrastructure such as public roads and construction of water tanks. Some forty two (42) kilometers of roads on the east will be upgraded under that project. These are the Pond Case’ to Castle Bruce Roads; the Castle Bruce to Petite Soufriere and the Castle Bruce to Hatton Garden main roads. This component of the DVRP is well on its way with the award of a contract for the design of the roadway. Additionally, eight (8) water tanks are presently under construction at critical areas along the west coast. This would assist Dominica meet its commitment under the Millennium Development Goals to bring potable water to all of its citizens. Before Hurricane Maria Dominica had achieved up to 98 % success in bringing potable water to its citizens.Component 2Deals with data collection and Management: The availability of data is critical to project planning and design. One of the major shortcomings in the planning and design of projects locally is the unavailability of the correct information. In that respect the project has been assisting a number of government department (Forestry, Lands and Surveys, Public Works, Meteorology Services among others) acquire critical pieces of equipment to undertake some of their functions. The availability of information on peak river flows was particularly important when designing the new bridge over the Roseau River. This was highlighted as a positive contribution of the project.Component 3 includes Contingencies and Emergency. Dominica benefitted tremendously from resources under the project following the destructive impact of Tropical Storm Erika. An Amount of one million dollars was utilized for emergency purposes in the immediate aftermath of that tropical system.Component 4 is management of the project activities to include a secretariat and supporting services for executing the project.Dominica’s program to build the Caribbean’s first Climate Resilient Country will be advanced with the ongoing activities under the DVRP. Mr. Guiste underscored the need for data and scientific information that would aid in the planning process. Example an important activity under component 2 is the conduct of a national soil survey to identify and map Dominica’s soil resources with a view to planning for agriculture, civil works and urban development. An inventory of Dominica’s forests is another of such activity to determine the health of the forest particularly after Hurricane MARIA.The project recently underwent its mid-term review last December. At that exercise the stakeholders reviewed the status of the project. In the coming weeks and months the project will roll out the consultancy re the design for the infrastructure project. This is expected to be completed by November 2018. Thereafter the project will go into implementation stage through to 2020. The survey of the soil, forest and water catchment resources is moving ahead. The soil survey is ongoing and will be completed in 2020. Importantly, the project will move to establish a comprehensive Hydro-meteorology service to include a new headquarters for the Dominica’s met service; location of 5 fully automated weather stations at strategic locations around Dominica, 16 stream (river) gauging stations and 22 rain gauges. All these will be networked via satellite to provide ready and reliable data that can be used in the planning of important national projects. This he highlighted plays well into assisting with Dominica’s efforts in building a more Climate Resilient nation. Share 273 Views   2 commentscenter_img Share Sharing is caring!
